The Fisheries Resource Utilization Study Program, Faculty of Marine Science and Fisheries, Hasanuddin University conducted an integrated field practice for three days, from Friday to Sunday, October 13 – 15, 2023 at Tanah Beru Village and Bira Village, Bonto Bahari District, Bulukumba Regency. Integrated field practice is a routine activity carried out by the Fisheries Resource Utilization Study Program every semester. The person in charge of this activity is Dr. Ir. Alfa Nelwan, M.Si. as the head of the PSP Study Program. This activity was attended by several lecturers who teach courses and PSP students totalling 163 people. This integrated field practice activity aims to provide experience to students about the application of theories previously learned in class so that students are able to apply what has been learned before in the field. The activities carried out during field practice are students participating in fishing operations with local fishermen using purse seine vessels. Some of the things that become the focus of attention in fishing activities carried out by students are seeing the process of fishing gear being operated from the beginning of leaving for the fishing area, the process of capturing the target fish, to the process of handling the fish catch on the ship. This activity is related to the courses of Fisheries Oceanography, Fish Behaviour, Fishing Operations Management, Deep Sea Fishing Areas, Capture Fisheries Exploration, Capture Fisheries Management, and Catch Handling. Students also conducted interviews with local communities related to problems that become important issues in Bonto Bahari sub-district. This interview activity is related to the Capture Fisheries Research Methodology course. The output of this activity is that students are expected to know how to conduct sampling with survey methods. In addition, students also practiced work safety on ships carried out in Bonto Bahari waters, this is related to the course of Maritime Affairs and Work Safety at Sea. It is expected that after this activity there will be output in the form of field practice reports made by each student as a form of assessment of the learning outcomes of each course.<\/p>\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
